Urbanstrong Accepted into NYC Accelerator’s Service Provider Program

Urbanstrong is proud to announce that we have been accepted into NYC Accelerator’s Service Provider Program for our green roof, rooftop solar, and rooftop stormwater management solution services. We are excited to support more projects in the five boroughs to work towards creating a cleaner and greener city.

What is the NYC Accelerator Service Provider Program?

New York City has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050. In 2012, the NYC Mayor's Office of Climate & Sustainability launched the NYC Accelerator Program to support an effort to reduce pollution and carbon emissions in thousands of buildings. This city program aims to help qualified service providers working within New York City connect with key building decision-makers to support greater energy efficiency and carbon reduction practices within building design, construction, and operations. The program will help building owners control costs, meet local law compliance, increase energy savings, and reduce carbon emissions across NYC buildings. The NYC Accelerator is designed to mobilize real estate stakeholders on a pathway to decarbonization and improve the health and safety of New York City’s one million buildings.

The Accelerator provides free expert guidance to make building upgrades. There are many ways to improve our environment in New York City through building upgrades

NYC Accelerator

These include but are not limited to:

• Improve ventilation and indoor air quality

• Upgrade lighting

• Update heating and cooling

• Reduce water use

• Seal air leaks

• Install alternate roof options such as solar or green roofs

• Upgrade building envelope

How the NYC Accelerator Program Works

New construction projects and existing buildings larger than 5,000 square feet are eligible to access services through the NYC Accelerator that enable them to reduce their building’s carbon emissions. These services range from technical assistance, financing options, referrals to service providers, and free online training and education. Buildings can get involved by contacting the NYC Accelerator and getting set up with a dedicated account manager who will evaluate the needs of the building. Account managers will also recommend qualified service providers. These contractors will assist buildings with services from green roofs, rooftop solar, energy modeling, water conservation, HVAC, and more.
